CPS Cookie Policy

Effective Date: 15 September 2025

Introduction

At Corporate Project Solutions Ltd (“CPS”, “we” or “us”), we use cookies on our website (www.cps.co.uk) to keep the site secure, make it function properly, and to provide you with a better online experience. Cookies help us remember your preferences, understand how visitors use our site, and tailor content to you. We are committed to complying with UK privacy laws – including the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR – in our use of cookies. This means we do not set any non-essential cookies without your consent. When you first visit our site, you will see a cookie consent banner that clearly explains our use of cookies and asks for your preferences. By clicking “Allow all cookies”, you agree to the storing of all non-essential cookies on your device. If you prefer, you can click “Manage cookie settings” to customize which categories of cookies to accept or reject. Until you make a choice, we will not load non-essential cookies. You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time by using our Cookie Settings tool (powered by CookieBot) – this tool is available via a button or link on our site at all times, so you always have complete control over your cookie preferences.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit. These files allow the website to recognize your device and store certain information about your visit. For example, a cookie can remember that you’re logged in, or note your preferences such as language or font size, or track which pages you visited and for how long. Cookies by themselves do not identify you personally – they simply contain information about your web browser and activities on the site. However, some cookies may collect data that is considered personal data (like an IP address or a unique device ID). We treat any personal data collected via cookies in accordance with our Privacy Notice. Overall, cookies help us improve your experience: they make the site work efficiently, enable certain features, and provide insights into how we can better serve our visitors.

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies to serve several key purposes on our website:

  • Essential Functions – These cookies are necessary to keep our website secure and operating correctly. They enable core functionalities like site security, network management, and accessibility. For instance, essential cookies keep your browsing session private and secure, help pages load properly, and remember your cookie preference settings so that your choices are respected as you navigate the site. Without essential cookies, important features of the site would not work. (Because these cookies are required for the site to function, they are set by default and are not subject to the consent requirement.)
  • Performance Tracking – We use analytics or performance cookies to understand how visitors use our site and to improve the user experience. These cookies collect anonymous statistics about site usage. For example, they may tell us which pages are most popular, how long people spend on each page, or if users encounter errors. This information helps us identify areas to enhance and ensures that the content we provide is useful. All data collected via performance cookies is aggregated and not used to identify individual visitors. (We will only set these analytics cookies if you have consented, as they are not strictly necessary.)
  • Customisation – Customisation cookies (also known as functionality cookies) remember your preferences and past actions to tailor the website to you. They might recall things like your login details (so you don’t have to log in every time) or your previously selected preferences (e.g. if you set specific site options or personalization features). By remembering your settings, these cookies help us personalize content and experience just for you, making the site more convenient to use. These are not strictly necessary for basic site operation, but they significantly enhance functionality and user experience. (Like performance cookies, we only use customisation cookies if you permit them via the cookie settings.)
  • Marketing – Marketing cookies help us provide you with relevant advertising and measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. These cookies may be set by us or by our advertising partners to track your browsing habits across our site and others. They enable us to show you CPS-related adverts on other platforms (such as LinkedIn or Google) that are more likely to interest you, based on content you’ve viewed on our site. They also allow us to cap how often you see an ad and measure whether you clicked on our ads. Marketing cookies often involve tagging your browser with a unique ID so that you can be recognized if you visit other sites in the advertising network. We will only use marketing cookies if you explicitly opt-in to them, since they are not essential. If you disable these cookies, you will receive less targeted advertising from us.

In summary, some cookies are there to ensure the website works at a basic level, while others help us improve the site or market our services better. In the next section, we provide more detail on the categories of cookies we use and examples for each type.

Types of Cookies We Use

We group the cookies on the CPS website into the following four categories:

ESSENTIAL (STRICLY NECESSARY)

These cookies are fundamental for website operation. They ensure that basic functions like page navigation, form submissions, and security measures work correctly. For example, when you log into a secure area or submit a form, essential cookies maintain your session so you don’t get logged out as you move between pages. They also remember your cookie consent state, so if you’ve opted out of certain cookies, the site remembers that choice. Because the website cannot function properly without these cookies, they are placed as soon as you visit the site or take an action (like logging in). Legal note: Under PECR, we do not need to ask permission for strictly necessary cookies, but we still list them here so you know they exist. We do not use essential cookies for any purpose other than providing the service you request.

CUSTOMISATION (FUNCTIONAL)

These cookies enhance the functionality and personalization of the site. Without them, the site can still work, but it may not remember your preferences. For instance, a customisation cookie might remember your username so that when you come back, the login form is pre-filled; or it might recall that you prefer a text larger, so it can present the site with your preferred settings. Another example is remembering items you might have added to a cart or a list (if our site had such features). These cookies ensure a smoother experience by saving you time and tailoring content (like showing you content you’ve marked as favourite). We only set these cookies if you have allowed them in the cookie settings. If you choose to disable them, you may have to enter information repeatedly or lose some of the conveniences of a personalized experience, but the site will still run.

PERFORMANCE (ANALYTICS)

Performance (analytics) cookies collect data about how visitors interact with our site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and used to improve how the website works. For example, we learn about overall visitor patterns – such as which pages are visited most often, if people are encountering errors, or which marketing channels bring visitors to our site. One commonly used performance tool is Google Analytics, which uses cookies to track page visits and clicks. The data from these cookies helps us understand what content is engaging or where users might be getting stuck, so we can improve those areas. Importantly, these cookies do not collect information that identifies you personally. They typically track metrics like number of visitors, time on page, and traffic sources. We treat performance cookies as optional – we will not set them unless you give consent via our banner or settings. If you opt out, it won’t affect basic site functionality, but it helps us respect your privacy preferences.

MARKETING (TARGETING / ADVERTISING)

Marketing cookies are used to track visitors across websites and serve them with relevant advertisements. On our site, marketing cookies may be set by us or by third-party advertising partners we work with. They create a profile of your interests by gathering information about your browsing habits, which is then used to show you targeted ads on other sites. For example, if you visited our pages about project management solutions, we might later show you a CPS advertisement about those services when you’re on LinkedIn or Google. These cookies also help us measure the effectiveness of advertising – for instance, they can tell us if someone who saw an ad for CPS ended up visiting our site later. Marketing cookies often involve sharing a minimal piece of data (like a cookie identifier) with an advertising network such as Google or Facebook. We only use these cookies if you have opted in, as they are not essential and can be more privacy-intrusive. If you disable marketing cookies, you will still see advertising online, but it may be less relevant to you and not specifically from CPS.

Third-Party Cookies and Services

Third-party cookies are cookies set by someone other than CPS when you visit our site. Many of our analytics and advertising functions rely on trusted third-party providers, so when those features are used, the third parties may set their own cookies on your device. Key examples of third-party services on our site include Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube:

  • Analytics and Advertising Partners: As noted, we use Google Analytics to gather site usage data, and Google may set cookies like _ga or _gid for this purpose. If you consent to marketing cookies, Google’s advertising cookies (such as IDE or NID) may also be used to enable personalized ads via Google’s networks. Similarly, we use LinkedIn’s insight tag for analytics and advertising on LinkedIn, which can set cookies (like UserMatchHistory or li_sugr) to track your interaction with our site and later show CPS content on LinkedIn. Facebook and Twitter integrations (such as a Facebook Pixel or Twitter share button) might set cookies that recognize you for advertising or content personalization on those platforms. We want to highlight that these third-party cookies are governed by the privacy/cookie policies of the respective providers, not just by CPS. We do our best to list and categorize them in our consent tool, but the third parties control exactly what they do. For more details, you can review the cookie policies of https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies, https://www.linkedin.com/legal/cookie-policy, https://www.facebook.com/policy/cookies/, https://twitter.com/privacy, and https://policies.google.com/privacy (YouTube is a Google service). These cookies will only be activated on our site if you have given the relevant consent (e.g., we won’t load LinkedIn or Facebook tracking unless you’ve allowed marketing cookies).
  • HaloITSM Support Portal: In addition to the cookies on our main website, we provide a customer support portal through a third-party platform called HaloITSM. When you click on “Login” or otherwise access our support services, you may be directed to the HaloITSM portal (which may be on a subdomain of cps.co.uk or on a HaloITSM domain). This portal will use its own cookies to function. For example, HaloITSM will set an essential session cookie to keep you logged in securely while you use the support portal (without it, you would have to log in for every action). HaloITSM might also use additional cookies or similar technologies to remember your portal preferences and to gather analytics about how the support portal is used, helping them improve the service. Any cookies set by HaloITSM are considered third-party in the context of our main site. We treat any HaloITSM cookies that are needed for the service as essential (since if you are using the portal, those cookies are required to provide the support service you requested). If HaloITSM employs any non-essential tracking (for instance, to analyse usage patterns), those would typically fall under performance cookies. Your interaction with the support portal is also covered by our privacy commitments – any personal data you provide while seeking support is handled according to our Privacy Notice and our agreements with HaloITSM as our data processor. For transparency, we include HaloITSM in our cookie policy so you know this service is in use. HaloITSM’s own privacy policy notes that they use cookies to improve their platform and monitor usage. Rest assured, any data HaloITSM collects on our behalf is used strictly for delivering and improving support services to you, and we have contracts in place to ensure your data is protected.

Please note that CPS does not control the detailed operation of third-party cookies. We do vet our partners and only use reputable services. If you have concerns about data collected by third-party cookies, we recommend reviewing the privacy policies of those third parties for more information. We list all cookies (including third-party ones) in our CookieBot cookie consent tool, which is kept up-to-date so you can see exactly what’s in use and make informed choices.

Managing Your Cookie Preferences

Your privacy and choice are important to us. You have the right to decide which cookies we set on your device (apart from the strictly necessary ones). We provide a few easy ways for you to manage your cookie preferences:

  • Cookie Consent Banner: On your first visit to our site (and periodically thereafter), you’ll see a banner asking you to choose your cookie settings. You can click “Allow all cookies” to accept all categories of cookies, or choose “Manage cookie settings” to grant consent for some categories and not others. We do not pre-tick any consent boxes or assume your consent – until you make a selection, no optional cookies will run. Our banner is designed to be clear and user-friendly, following UK guidelines for valid consent (i.e., a clear positive action is required).
  • Cookie Preferences Center (CookieBot): At any time, you can adjust your cookie choices by using our Cookie Settings tool. There is a link or button (often at the bottom of the site labelled “Cookie Settings” or similar) that brings up the preferences center managed by CookieBot. In this preferences center, you’ll see a list of all cookie categories and even individual cookies in use. You can change your consent for each category (e.g., disable Performance cookies if you had enabled them, or vice versa). Any changes you make will take effect immediately – for example, if you turn off a category, the associated cookies will be disabled or removed (where possible) right away. This gives you continuous control over your data.
  • Withdraw Consent Anytime: If you previously allowed certain cookies and later change your mind, you can revoke your consent by toggling off those categories in the CookieBot preferences. There’s no need to wait for the banner to reappear – you have a persistent option to withdraw consent as easily as you gave it. Likewise, if you initially declined some categories but later want to experience the full features (like personalized content), you can enable those cookies through the preferences center.
  • Browser Settings: In addition to our site-specific controls, you can manage cookies through your web browser settings. Most browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.) allow you to view and delete cookies and set rules to block cookies from specific or all sites. For example, you can typically delete all cookies after browsing, or refuse all third-party cookies by default. You can also often use “private” or “incognito” modes to limit cookie storage. Keep in mind, however, that if you block all cookies, our website’s essential features may not work properly. For guidance on adjusting browser settings, you can visit an informational site like https://www.allaboutcookies.org/ or consult your browser’s help documentation.

Please note that if you disable certain categories of cookies (whether via our tool or your browser), some features of our website might be affected. For instance, if you turn off customisation cookies, the site may not remember your preferences (you might have to re-login or reset settings on each visit). If you turn off performance cookies, it won’t affect your experience on the site, but it will make it harder for us to know what parts of our site are popular or if something isn’t working well. And if you opt out of marketing cookies, you will still see general CPS messages on our site, but you might miss out on customized content or targeted offers on other platforms. We fully respect any choices you make – the goal is to give you control.

No Paywall or Condition for Consent: Access to our website is not conditioned on you accepting cookies. If you decline optional cookies, you will still be able to use our site and access most content normally (we do not, for example, block articles or features if you say no to marketing cookies). We believe consent should be freely given, so we will never try to force you into accepting cookies you don’t want.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our use of cookies or changes in legal requirements. If we make significant changes, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date. In some cases, if the changes are substantial, we may provide an additional notice (such as a banner or an email notification) to inform you. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies. Your continued use of our website after any changes to this policy will be treated as acceptance of those changes. However, if we were to change any practice in a way that requires new consent (for example, adding a new category of cookies), we will prompt you again via the cookie consent banner.
